crimsonKing TRIM doesn’t instantly wipe your files, but it does start the process the moment you delete something.
Here’s what happens: when you delete a file on an SSD, the OS immediately sends a TRIM command to the SSD’s controller, telling it “these blocks are no longer needed”, but it’s not the OS that erases the data, it’s the SSD controller’s job to decide when to actually clean those blocks up. If we’re being realistic, that cleanup usually happens within minutes, not hours or days. SSDs are designed to clear out unused blocks quickly, often when idle or when managing wear leveling. So while the deleted data can physically remain on the NAND forsome time, the window for recovery is small and closes fast.
