nebokey You can still make a full byte-level image of the drive, even if it’s slow / freezing.
This way, you’re not stressing the original drive during scans or repalrs. You work on the copy instead.
Many tools can do this. Poersonally I’ve used Disk Drill in the past.
The process is simple. Just launch the app, go to the “Byte-to-Byte Backup” tab
Select your drive and click “Create Byte-to-Byte Backup'
Save the image file to a different drive with at least 500GB free
Once it’s done, you can scan that image later, i think free version limits how much data you can save without paying for PRO version, but the image creation itself has no limit.
I’ve also heard people recommend Macrium Reflect for this kind of task, but I haven’t used it myself, so I can’t speak to how it works.
