Is there any free AI humanizer??

Hey folks, bit of a random one. I’ve been messing around with a bunch of AI tools for writing stuff, just small things here and there. The problem is whenever I run the text through one of those AI detector sites, it comes back flagged as like 80% machine-written.
I know some people don’t care, but for what I’m using it for, I kinda do need it to look more “human”, I’ve messed around with alot of websites that claim to humanize AI writing, but most either want a subscription or have ridiculous limits like 100 words per try.
So are there actually any good FREE AI humanizers out there? Would love to hear what’s working for you all.

cikete62 If I’m being honest, there really aren’t any good free ones. The best AI text humanizers are all paid. If it’s just a one-time thing you need done, you’re better off subscribing, running your text through, and then cancelling. Most of these services have refund policies and don’t make a fuss about it.

cikete62 Try aihumanizer.net. Out of all the AI writing humanizer tools I’ve tried, it’s the most usable without asking for your credit card. Lets you throw in like 4k words at once, which is plenty unless you’re trying to rework a whole novel.

I tested it on a small side project and the text looked almost the same, but detection dropped from around 80% to around 15% on ZeroGPT. Grammar didn’t get mangled and the meaning held up fine. I wouldn’t hand it in as-is for something super important, but if you just want to strip the obvious AI “feel” out of your text, it does the job great.

cikete62 I used writehuman.ai recently for this. Not free though, it blocks you after a couple tries.
I managed to get around it by just opening a new incognito window and it seemed to forget I already hit my limit haha.
It’s may not be the best AI humanizer, but it did the job when I needed a fix.

You don’t even need a humanizing tool for this. Just tell your ChatGPT to rewrite your draft “like the slowest third grader in the class” and you’re good. Let the race to the bottom continue @cikete62

+1 on HopeInSleep’s recommendation. I used it myself recently and can’t recommend it enough. Probably the best AI text humanizer you can use for free right now. I messed with a couple of other free-ish options and they usually butcher grammar to a ridiculous extent.

Tried the WHOLE first 3 pages of Google results for free AI humanizer and NONE of them really work. Ran the text back through detectors and it still gets flagged as AI-generated every time. Feels like it’s all one giant scam at this point.
For example found this free humanizer from Ahrefs (https://ahrefs.com/writing-tools/ai-humanizer). Thought I’d give it a spin.
Ran a chunk of text through it and ZeroGPT actually flagged it worse AFTER *went from 47.78% to 53.5%). 😂 😂 😂 So much for an AI that makes text more human.

@cikete62 I’ve been using Quillbot. Works okay I guess but it’s not really free, ended up buying a subscription to try it out. It has a Chrome plugin that’s pretty handy, but I’m still not sure if the sub is worth it.
Like, it does something to improve the text, but I wouldn’t call it the best AI writing humanizer out there.

Also I saw somewhere someone recommend using less well-known models instead of Chatgpt, since detectors might not be tuned to those and may not catch them as easily. Don’t know how true that is though.
I tried Claude and Gemini in the past and didn’t see much difference -they all still feel AI to me, and detectors flag them anyway.

One piece of advice @cikete62 try using custom prompts instead of depending on a humanizing tool after the fact.
If you guide the AI better from the start, you usually get text that already reads more natural and doesn’t need nearly as much cleanup.

I mentioned this somewhere earlier, but worth repeating: you’ll find a ton of good prompt ideas floating around on Reddit. r/ChatGPTCoding and r/ChatGPTPromptGenius are both great spots to pick up inspiration, people share all kinds of real-world examples. This way, you spend less time feeding drafts into random AI humanizer sites and more time just generating text that works right out of the gate.

@Naheri I wouldn’t call it a scam, it’s more that there are a ton of these detectors and most of them seem to work on vibes. I mean if some of them can flag parts of the U.S. Constitution as AI-written, what do you expec from text that’s actually been through some AI to human rewriter algo?There’s always the possibility that at least one detector will still tag it as AI.

In my experience, there are really only two that are even somewhat reliable: ZeroGPT and Quillbot. Everything else is bs.

@Rofa As to lesser-known models. I really really doubt that. Detectors aren’t “fooled” just because the text came from some othe LLM instead of ChatGPT. At the end of the day all these models are built on similar principles and detectors are just looking for certain patters.
Also, a lot of these “other AIs” people hype up are just wrappers for the same good ol’ GPT underneath. Honestly, it feels like folks are hoping there’s some hidden backdoor: pick the right model and your draft suddenly passes. Reality check: not how it works. The weaker models often sound even more robotic.

Another biug thing is that all these detectors are shaky at best. One will say 85% AI, another 12%, both pretend to be precise. That’s why leaning on some supposed AI humanizer trick isn’t the solution. Best move is still editing with your own judgment, regardless of what any detector spits out.

@HopeInSleep sweet! aihumanizer.net seems to be exactly what I was looking for. 🎉
It does have a 500word limit per go tho, but I just split my draft into two chunks and it worked fine. Honestly feels like the most straightforward AI text to human text generator I’ve see so far.
Quick question what does that Copy HTML mean next to the result? I don’t really get when I’m supposed to use it.

cikete62 Copy HTML thing just means it copies the text along with any basic formatting tags. You’d use it if you’re pasting into something like a blog editor or anywhere that expects HTML.
If you’re just dropping the text into Word or Google Docs, you don’t need it, just hit normal copy.
It’s kind of a throwaway feature, but some AI humanizers add that in so people can preserve bold/italics/paragraph breaks when pasting into CMS tools.

@Rofa yeah I tried it too. That 125 word limit is brutal and it’s really aggressive about pushing the subscription. Gonna be a pass from me.

@Langdon Yeah but it’s maddening that there’s always some dufus ready to throw a screenshot from some random detector and say “look it shows AI.” Like, come on.

Naheri Well that “dufus” would be right though no? You did use AI for that text. So why are you complaining when a detector calls it out? Doesn’t matter if you ran it through the best AI humanizer out there, at the end of the day it’s still AI.
Feels like people have kinda lost the plot with all this. We’re spending hours trying to game detectors, game the education system, game each other, instead of actually learning or writing something that means anything.
It all turns into chasing scores. I don’t wanna sound like a boomer here, but isn’t the whole point of writing to communicate something or learn something?
