If you’re seeing hidden files, it’s simply because the File Explorer feature to show hidden files is enabled—there’s nothing unusual about that.
Regarding the missing files, you might want to check the Recycle Bin on the original drive to see if they were accidentally deleted. If they’re not there, you’ll likely need data recovery software that supports the HFS+ file system on a Windows PC, such as UFS Explorer or R-Studio. You could also consider using other software that recovers files by signature rather than by file system records, like Disk Drill (which supports nearly 400 file types) or PhotoRec (which supports 470 data types).
