I'm not quite sure I'm having the same issue as in this article: https://www.handyrecovery.com/external-hard-drive-not-showing-up-in-file-explorer/ perhaps you can advise me. I just built a new pc (aorus z790 prox motherboard). If i use an external dock/hard drive reader...the pc can view the drive and its files through my pc. However if i install the hard drive directly in the pc....i cant see it in my pc....but can see the drive listed in disk management. I have this issue no matter what hard drive i use. The drives work fine on my old pc. Any advice?

Hello, JacobR93
Please confirm that in case of internal connection, your drive appears in Disk Management, has a recognized file system, and displays the correct drive size.
I went over it again. It looks like I was wrong. The right disk is not showing up in disk management.
We suggest you follow these steps:
- Enter the BIOS and check if the SATA slot to which your HDD is connected is not disabled.
- Disable Hot Plug mode and enable AHCI mode.
- Verify if the HDD appears in the BIOS.
- If it does not appear even after enabling the SATA ports, check the SATA cable (it is best to use the cable that came with the motherboard) and the power cable connected to the HDD, and ensure they are correctly connected to the power supply unit.
Also, if you are using the M2 SSD not in the Master slot, your motherboard may be disabling multiple SATA ports. Try either connecting the HDD to other SATA ports or connecting the M2 SSD in the Master slot of the motherboard. If you are using multiple M2 SSDs, then try different configurations of the SATA ports, for example, insert your drive in the SATA0 slot.
