Yeah, TestDisk can work no argument there.
But I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who’s not comfortable poking around in partition tables.
Ron, if you go that route, be VERY careful.
One wrong step in TestDisk can make recovery harder, not easier.
With TestDisk, there's also PhotoRec. I’d try that instead.
It doesn’t touch the partition table at all, so it’s safer to use.
There’s even a UI version called qPhotoRec.exe in the same folder.
Much, much easier to use.
You basically just pick the drive, the file types, and a folder to save to. That’s it.
And if you want something even simpler, Recuva is decent too, though not as good.
