Just because we're discussing things online doesn't mean that it's okay to use rude language toward others or in general. The forum is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life, so it's important to use inoffensive, kid-friendly language at all times.

3. Stay On Topic

Please remember that the Handy Recovery Advisor forum is about data recovery, storage management, and data backup—it's not about general computer or mobile issues, politics, relationships, or how horrible the last session of Game of Thrones was. Needless to say, any form of spam, such as unsolicited or repetitive messages, will be deleted right away.

4. Be Helpful

Great things can happen when people come together online to help one another (the Folding@home project is an excellent example). A few minutes of your time can save someone on the other side of the world several hours or even days of frustration and desperation. Therefore, we ask all members of our community to be as helpful as they can be. For example, don't just say "Thx guys, but it's cool now. I've found a solution." Instead, share the solution with the rest of the community so that others can benefit from it as well.

5. Search Before You Post

While the number of data loss scenarios that you can theoretically experience is virtually infinite, some scenarios are more common than others, and it's very likely that you're not the first person to experience your particular data loss problem. So before you create a new thread, please use the search feature to check if it doesn't already exist. Please also review our submission guidelines before posting.

6. Don't Post Illegal Content

We understand that some of the most effective data recovery, storage management, and data backup tools cost money and may be prohibitively expensive for many people. However, that doesn't justify the sharing of pirated content. Likewise, we don't want our users to violate copyright laws—or any other laws for that matter.

7. Don't Advertise

Are you a developer of data recovery software, the owner of a data recovery business, or maybe the administrator of a website dedicated to storage management and data backup? Great! Please share your expertise and experience with our members, but don't use this forum for advertising purposes. This applies to any other products and services as well.

8. Don't Share Personal Information

The web is home to many cybercriminals who constantly scan it for valuable personal information they could use to commit identity theft, financial fraud, or other malicious activities. We don't want our members to fall victim to such crimes, so we prohibit the sharing of personal information.

9. Report Issues

Whenever you experience a technical issue, encounter a violation of our rules, or have any other problem, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our moderators. They will do whatever they can to assist you and resolve the issue as quickly and completely as humanly possible (people need to take breaks sometimes!).

10. Respect Moderators

We believe in freedom of expression, so we try to run the Handy Recovery Advisor forum as hands-off as possible when it comes to moderation. Of course, we also need to take action when rules are violated to keep the community safe, respectful, and enjoyable. That's why our moderators always have the last word when it comes to conflict resolution, as well as the ability to remove posts, impose bans, and more.
